The "Hired Gun"
Here are some facts that may shed new light on understanding the man behind RealRide's celebrity personality, the "Hired Gun". The Hired Gun's first car was a "normally aspirated" 72 Maverick Bondo Special with a turbo emblem epoxied crudely to the trunk lid. The car was later sold for $300; the inflated selling price was due mainly to the stereo and the crooked turbo emblem. (Hired Gun's Commentary: It was actually $400, and I made a profit on that car... but who's counting!) The Hired Gun learned the double clutching gear change technique from a variety of worn out syncros, some Chevy, some SunBeam, most from his sister's Honda Civic. The Hired Gun once lost a race while leading (a fee is paid to me monthly to keep the venue confidential) because he "lifted" at the start/finish line thinking he had won, when in fact there was still one lap remaining. An appropriate nickname ensued and remained for years. The nickname had a somewhat of different angle from the more recent "Hired Gun". The Hired Gun is an Asian who resides in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. You can make your own assessment of his driving abilities. The Hired Gun's fascination with Endurance Sports Car Racing began at a mid 1980's IMSA event in San Diego where the "Gun" was invited to help wrench with a 2 car, factory sponsored Mazda IMSA GTU team. Neither car finished the 90 minute event. The Hired Gun refuses to read any technological literature regarding the development and setup of racing cars, despite the fact that he was presented with one of Carrol Smith's books as a wedding present. Instead, the Hired Gun consults with his engineering friend long-distance by cell phone about terms like "ackerman principle", "camber thrust", and "jumper cables". Finally, somewhere buried deep in the RealRide video archives, is actual footage of an event where the "Hired Gun" blatantly lifts out of the throttle and sheepishly follows a slower car for a lap, while the driver of the car ahead waves frantically for the "Gun" to pass him. (Hired Gun's Commentary: The two laps previous to my pass, the driver of this "Slower Car" had mistaken this event for a Demolition Derby!) This is the footage that RealRide needs to publish. Now THAT'S entertainment!

3 championships in off road Desert and
Enduro racing before realizing women don't find off road motorcycles
glamorous. Switched to motorcycle road-racing and won 3 novice races before
being relegated to mid back by the fast blokes. Crashed in turn 8 @ 145 MPH
and Turn 2 @ 100 MPH at Willow Springs and realized that crashing road-racing
motorcycles is more costly both physically and fiscally than dirt bikes and
women still did not find the sport attractive. Sooooo there were loads of
scantily clad women in the pits during car races so onward through the fog.
Been racing cars a few years now, spent a lot of money, won some trophies,
have not got hurt, and got divorced. All told a rather successful foray
into the world of car racing that keeps me coming back for more. Have
garnered a few top 3 finishes in the ASC stockcar but as of yet Pamela
Anderson has still not volunteered to change tires for me. Sooo I'm in
search of some more good racing and sponsorship by the Budweiser girls.
