Well, we just got back from the NASA race at Willow Springs one day early. The team suffered a major set back on Saturday. The #47 car with Tim driving was coasting to a 2nd in Super Unlimited with 2 laps to go when a lapped car stalled in the middle of Turns 2-3. At 120mph, with his line committed, Tim tried his best to turn down the inside of the lapped car as it was stalled across the middle of the track (facing traffic) with the driver trying to restart it. Unfortunately, the left quarter panel of our car collected his and both cars ended up in a tangle of twisted metal. Both Tim and the other driver are OK, he's a bit sore today but otherwise fine. The car unfortunately is a wreck. Race control reports confirmed that there was NO Yellow as it was in a blind spot to all the corner marshalls.

eanwhile, car #46 with Benny driving was running extremely well and was slicing trough traffic up to second in the Super Unlimited class. The battle was heating up between Benny's Rx7, 3 Mustangs and a Camaro forming a 5 car train with no more than 10 feet between each of them (Average speed of 120 MPH). Suddenly out of Turn 9, a 100 mph corner, all 5 cars went into multiple spins. Thru a huge cloud of dust the Camaro appeared followed by the yellow Pennyweb Rx7, this was definitely worth the $10 admission fee. After 30 minutes of battle, Benny's engine overheated and blew out the seals. The engine is shot but after a very hard season of development where it suffered multiple over eating's, we're surprised that it made it this far. Elsewhere, Miguel Escobar representing RealRide/Pennyweb in his ITA/PS-2 VW Golf threw a rod in his brand new engine. Don Mock, also representing RealRide/Pennyweb in his ITA/PS-2 Honda CRX ran a very respectable 3rd in Saturday's sprint race. On Sunday, Don showed his muscle by taking a 2nd in Class, right behind the PS-2 Honda CRX of multiple-time SCCA National Champion Ron Haase. Congratulations go out to Don.
Saturday's sprint race was won by John Lindsey in his American Iron Extreme F ord Mustang amid the 116 degree track temperatures. Evan Gardner won Sunday's sprint race in his RealRide.com Racing decaled Mazda Rx7. Congratulations go out to them as well.
